Normalization applied (documented, deterministic)

  • Gutenberg header/footer (*** START/END ***) stripped.
  • [Footnote …] blocks dropped; inline footnote markers [1] removed.
  • Paragraphs joined to single lines; runs of whitespace collapsed.
  • No wording changes; the English is otherwise byte-verbatim to Gutenberg.
  • Gate normalization additionally folds --/dashes to spaces and strips quote
    characters before substring-matching (so hyphenation/dash style never blocks a
    genuine match).

The RU translation policy

No public-domain Russian translation aligned to Saunders was used. The Russian
in evidence blocks is our translation of the specific cited passage, made
from the German Aphorismen with the Saunders English as cross-check, and
labelled «перевод наш» on the pages. It is a reading aid; the English Saunders
line is the verbatim evidence and the only thing the gate checks. Where a term
is contested, TERMINOLOGY.md records the German arbiter form.

Not fetched in v1 (next per recipe)

The World as Will and Representation (Payne/Haldane-Kemp editions — Haldane &
Kemp EN is PD), On the Basis of Morality, On the Suffering of the World
(Saunders, PD). Add as separate unit sets; do not mix into the Aphorisms
evidence pool. Only these would let the metaphysical concepts
(volya-k-zhizni, otritsanie-voli, sostradanie-osnova-morali) carry
their own primary quotes instead of metaphysics_outside_corpus.
