QUOTE_AUTHENTICITY — fake/floating quote policy (Schopenhauer)

Schopenhauer, like Nietzsche, carries a dense field of misattributed «мудрых
цитат». This page is the предохранитель.

Statuses

  • verified_primary — verbatim (after normalization) in an ingested Saunders
    unit; carries unit_id. The English Saunders line is the anchor.
  • verified_secondary_only — genuine but from a Schopenhauer work outside this
    corpus     (WWR, On the Basis of Morality, On the Suffering of the World).
  • popular_but_unverified — circulates widely, no edition trace found.
  • misattributed — verifiably not Schopenhauer.

Verification rule

Every evidence blockquote in concepts/, principles/, chains/, MOC.md
carries an English Saunders source line (> EN: "…" in concepts/principles, or a
plain EN blockquote in chains) that must be a literal substring of the cited unit
in sources/aphorisms_en_units.json after whitespace/quote/dash normalization.
The Russian lines are our translation («перевод наш»), the reading layer, and
are not gated for verbatimness — only the English anchor is. Code role, $0.
Gate: sources/check_quotes.py. RAG-time rule: a popular-quote-shaped query with
no corpus match answers NO_RELEVANT_KB_EVIDENCE, never confirms.

KB build verification (2026-07-07, Aphorisms hand-built KB)

  • 75/75 English Saunders evidence lines in concepts/, principles/, chains/
    verified as verbatim (whitespace/dash/quote-normalized) substrings of their
    cited wl.*/cm.* unit. Gate: sources/check_quotes.py.
  • Negative control confirmed the gate works: an early paraphrase in
    sostradanie-osnova-morali («rather rely upon») was rejected as NOT-IN-CORPUS
    and fixed to the exact substring («more advisable to rely upon», cm.29).
  • Metaphysical concepts (volya-k-zhizni, otritsanie-voli,
    esteticheskoe-sozertsanie, sostradanie-osnova-morali) carry
    evidence: metaphysics_outside_corpus: no metaphysical doctrine is
    attributed to the Aphorisms; each shows only its genuine practical corpus trace
    (if any) and points to WWR / Basis of Morality.
  • The nietzsche-predtecha bridge page is evidence: debate_bridge: it holds
    zero corpus quotes and only routes to the two KBs' own quote-anchored pages.
  • Voice: single authorial voice of the late Aphorisms; the «по уступке» caveat
    (wl.intro.2) is stated so practical advice is never read as final metaphysics.
