CRITIC_REPORT — Schopenhauer KB v1 (2026-07-07)

Two-pass verification per GENERATE_PKB_v2.md Phase 14. Built by hand (Claude,
no fleet, no cheap-model offload).

Scope verified

  • 18 concepts, 8 principles, 2 chains, MOC + 5 service pages.
  • Evidence pool: PD Saunders English (sources/aphorisms_en_units.json, 279
    units from Gutenberg #10741 + #10715).
  • Verbatim anchor: the English Saunders line in each evidence block. Russian is
    «перевод наш» (reading layer), not gated.

Pass 1 — findings and fixes

Quote authenticity (verbatim gate sources/check_quotes.py):

  • 75/75 English evidence lines are literal substrings of their pinned wl.*/
    cm.* unit after whitespace/dash/quote normalization.
  • Defect found + fixed: sostradanie-osnova-morali.md originally paraphrased
    the cm.29 line as «rather rely upon…»; the gate rejected it as NOT-IN-CORPUS.
    Fixed to the exact substring «more advisable to rely upon…». (Negative control
    confirming the gate is not a rubber stamp.)

Corpus-boundary honesty:

  • 4 concepts marked metaphysics_outside_corpus (volya-k-zhizni,
    otritsanie-voli, esteticheskoe-sozertsanie, sostradanie-osnova-morali):
    each attributes no metaphysical doctrine quote to the Aphorisms; each shows
    only its genuine practical corpus trace (verified as substrings) and points to
    WWR / On the Basis of Morality.
  • Negative claim confirmed: 0 occurrences of ascetic/asceticism/denial of the will in the corpus.
  • nietzsche-predtecha (debate_bridge): 0 corpus quotes; only routes to the two
    KBs' own quote-anchored pages.

Cross-KB links: all 5 Nietzsche slugs referenced by nietzsche-predtecha
(volya-k-vlasti, zhizn-est-volya-k-vlasti, distsiplina-stradaniya,
stradanie-vozvyshaet, sostradanie-zhalost) resolve in ../nietzsche/.

Translation fidelity (all 60 RU/EN pairs reviewed): faithful throughout;
qualifiers preserved («almost always»→«почти всегда», «nine-tenths»→«девять
десятых», «only a negative condition»→«лишь отрицательное состояние»); technical
positive/negative → положительно/отрицательно; terms correct (Willeволя,
Langeweileскука, Mitleidсострадание, eudaemonologyэвдемонология).

  • Minor fix: chest-i-mnenie-drugih RU restored «главное и подлинное» for
    «chief and real existence» (had dropped «chief»).

Claims vs evidence: every principle's «Статус: подтверждено» cites units that
genuinely establish it; every «Антипринцип» paraphrases a real corpus phrase (all
9 underlying EN phrases verified as substrings) — no fabricated quote is presented
as verbatim.

Pass 2 — confirming sweep

  • Gate re-run after fixes: 75/75 verbatim, 0 failures.
  • Negative controls: the Twilight meme («what does not kill me…»), a fabricated
    «abyss/monsters» line, a distorted cm.1 wording, and a genuine-but-
    outside-corpus WWR line     («Talent hits a target…») are all rejected;
    positive control found. Gate proven to accept real and reject fake/distorted/
    out-of-corpus.
  • Wikilink integrity: 0 broken links, all 28 content pages reachable from MOC.

External independent critic (pass 3 — post-build)

Two independent critic agents ran thorough verification across five axes (verbatim
anchors, unit-pin correctness, corpus-boundary honesty, cross-KB slugs,
translation fidelity + claims-vs-evidence). Findings:

Critical/Major: none.

Minor defects found and fixed:

  1. SOURCE_MANIFEST.md:54 referenced stale slug volya-veshch-v-sebe (no such
    file) for the Will concept — corrected to volya-k-zhizni.
  2. CORPUS_BOUNDARY.md:12 + SOURCE_MANIFEST.md:16 described the cm range as
    cm.1–cm.53 without noting that sections 4, 21, 47 are absent from the
    Gutenberg source — wording tightened to show 50 present + 3 absent.
  3. nastoyashchee-edinstvennaya-realnost.md RU dropped the modal from «may be
    hurried» → now «можно ускорить».

Critic verdicts: APPROVE-WITH-FIXES (pass 3a) and APPROVE (pass 3b). All
fixes applied. No integrity defects; translation fidelity clean across all 30+
RU/EN pairs; claims vs evidence clean across all antiprincipy and definition
paragraphs; Nietzsche slugs all resolve.

Verdict

APPROVE. Fake-quote result: 0 fabricated quotes (75/75 anchors verbatim;
gate rejects negative controls). Corpus honestly bounded; metaphysics named, not
faked; RU translation faithful and labelled «перевод наш»; debate bridge to
Nietzsche wired without inventing evidence. External independent critic confirms:
no critical/major findings, all minor fixes applied.
